To let go does not mean to stop caring, |
it means I cant do it for someone else. |
To let go is not to cut myself off; |
Its the realization I cant control another. |
To let go is to admit powerlessness, |
which means the outcome is not in my hands. |
To let go is to not enable, but allow |
learning from natural consequences. |
To let go is not to try to change or blame another, |
its to make the most of myself. |
To let go is not to judge, |
but to allow another to be a human being. |
To let go is not to be in the |
middle arranging all the outcomes, |
affect their own destinies. |
To let go is not to be protective, |
its to permit another to face reality. |
To let go is not to nag, scold, or argue, |
but instead to search out my own |
shortcomings and correct them. |
To let go is not to criticize and regulate, |
but to try to become what I dream I can be. |
To let go is not to regret the past, |
but to grow and live for the future. |
To let go is not to deny, |
To let go is to fear less, |
I may never see tomorrow, |
There is no written guarantee, |
And the things that happened yesterday |
I cannot predict the future, |
I cannot change the past. |
I must use this moment wisely, |
For it soon will pass away, |
And be lost to me forever |
I must exercise compassion, |
Help the fallen to their feet. |
Be a friend unto the friendless, |
Make an empty life complete. |
The unkind things I might do today |
and the friendships that I fail to win |
I may not have another chance |
And thank God with a humble heart |
GO PLACIDLY AMID THE NOISE & HASTE, & |
REMEMBER WHAT PEACE THERE MAY BE IN SILENCE. |
AS FAR AS POSSIBLE WITHOUT SURRENDER |
BE ON GOOD TERMS WITH ALL PERSONS. |
SPEAK YOUR TRUTH QUIETLY & CLEARLY; |
EVEN THE DULL & IGNORANT; |
THEY TOO HAVE THEIR STORY. |
Avoid loud & aggressive persons, |
they are vexatious to the spirit. |
If you compare yourself with others, |
you may become vain & bitter; |
greater & lesser persons than yourself. |
Keep interested in your own career, |
it is a real possession in |
the changing fortunes of time. |
Exercise caution in your business |
affairs; for the world is |
full of trickery. But let this not |
blind you to what virtue there is; |
many persons strive for high ideals; |
and everywhere life is full of |
Especially, do not feign affection. |
Neither be cynical about love; |
for in the face of all aridity & |
disenchanment it is perennial |
Take kindly the counsel of the years, |
gracefully surrendering the |
things of youth. Nurture strength |
in sudden misfortune. But |
with imaginings. Many fears are |
born of fatigue & loneliness. |
Beyond a wholesome discipline, |
You are a child of the universe, |
to be here. And whether or not |
it is clear to you, no doubt |
the universe is unfolding |
Therefore be at peace with GOD. |
aspirations, in the noisy |
confusion of life keep peace |
With all its sham, drudgery & |
broken dreams, it is still a |
They Remain in Each others |
We may be walking along a |
path with friends and then |
come upon a crossroad where |
we each must choose the road |
that is right for each of us |
At times we may find ourselves |
but somewhere along the road |
we find new friends to walk with, |
The path of life has many crossroads, |
and at each one its difficult to |
say good-bye and go our own |
separate ways, choosing the |
direction that is right for |
But the memory of being together |
and there is always the chance |
that our paths will cross again. |

"When you thought I wasn't looking": |
I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator, and I immediately wanted to paint another one. |
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you feed a stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind to animals. |
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make my favorite cake for me and I learned that the little things can be the special things in life. |
When you thought I wasn't looking I heard you say a prayer, and I knew there is a God I could always talk to and I learned to trust in God. |
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make a meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I learned that we all have to help take care of each other. |
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you give of your time and money to help people who had nothing and I learned that those who have something should give to those who don't. |
When you thought I wasn't looking, I felt you kiss me good night and I felt loved and safe. |
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you take care of our house and everyone in it and I learned we have to take care of what we are given. |
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw how you handled your responsibilities, even when you didn't feel good and I learned that I would have to be responsible when I grow up. |
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw tears come from your eyes and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it's all right to cry. |
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw that you cared and I wanted to be everything that I could be. |
When you thought I wasn't looking, I learned most of life's lessons that I need to know to be a good and productive person when I grow up. |
When you thought I wasn't looking, I looked at you and wanted to say, |
"Thanks"for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn't looking.'" |
Each of us, parent or friend, influence the life of a child. |
